Can you believe we are already a quarter of the way into 2013?
How has it happened so quickly? We are getting ready for the upcoming busy
season, painting walls and updating room details that we can't do during
the busier months. We also have a couple big changes planned for a couple
rooms that we hope to have in place this summer! Another fun project this
time of year is working on our summer wine pouring schedule, so you can
enjoy some of our favorite local wineries right on the Honor Mansion
property during our appetizer hour!

Employee of the
Month
This month we had the staff vote on which employee they felt really
went above and beyond and was a team player, and so this month we are
celebrating one of our cooks and housekeepers, Paola! She cooks,
cleans rooms, does laundry, and anything else needed, all with an amazing
smile on her face! She always tries to help and do her best and make
everything perfect as possible for our guests. She is a delight to work
with.
THANKS PAOLA FOR ALL YOU DO!

Sonoma:
More than great wine!
Many of you are familiar with Sonoma as a premier wine destination, but the
area has so much more to offer! Here are some of our favorite non-wine
related activities.
Biking: With miles of back country roads, Sonoma is
becoming a bikers Mecca! Perfect for day trips, or try one of the MANY
organized rides and competitions, including the Vineman, Levi Leipheimer's
Grand Fondo, Healdsburg's Century Ride and
the first annual I Bike Sonoma Century this June.
Culture: The Charles Schultz Museum (creator of Snoopy
and the Peanuts comic strip) is a great stop in Santa Rosa, and
is very close to the Pacific Coast Air Museum at the Sonoma County Airport.
In Healdsburg, enjoy rotating art exhibits at the Healdsburg Center for the
Arts and several other galleries, and catch local stage productions at The
Raven Theater. You can also enjoy local stage productions,
comedy, concerts and various other events, from Kathy Griffin in April
to a local Brew Fest in June at the Wells Fargo Center in Santa Rosa.
Hiking: Armstrong Redwood Park is about 30 minutes away
from the Honor Mansion, and has easy 1 mile hikes up to all day strenuous
hikes, among the stunning redwood forest. Lake Sonoma and Healdsburg Ridge
in town offer great, fairly easy hikes with stunning vistas. Or travel to
Sonoma Valley and visit historic Jack London Park, or Sugar Loaf Ridge for
even more options.
Hot Air Ballooning: Sonoma County is incredibly
picturesque, and one of the best ways to see everything the area has to
offer is from the sky!
Kayaking: Choose an easy half day float down the Russian
River with River's Edge, or explore a little further out and kayak where
the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean in Jenner.

Sonoma County’s “wine
country” again becomes “jazz country” when the 15th annual Healdsburg Jazz
Festival takes rolls into town, from May 31 – June 9, 2013 at indoor and
outdoor venues around Healdsburg.
To date, the partial 2013 festival lineup includes a two-day
tribute to jazz bassist CHARLIE
HADEN, with CARLA BLEY, RAVI COLTRANE and
more, plus other headline concerts by CHARLES LLOYD with JASON
MORAN, and the FRED HERSCH TRIO. More information here.
